You can read more about English Village, Alabama 35223 in Mountain Brook’s website:
Although Mountain Brook’s development was effected by population and patterns of settlement dating back to the early 1800’s, the most significant developments were the result of the development and planning that occurred in the years between 1926 and 1929. Local real estate developer and professional Robert Jemison, Jr. is credited with the long-term vision for Mountain Brook that has lasted to this day. During this time, Jemison commissioned a number of nationally and internationally renowned designers, including landscape architects Donald Ross and Warren Manning.
English Village was the second of Mountain Brook’s villages to be developed. Considerably smaller in size than Mountain Brook, English Village has evolved from a small convenience stop on your way over the mountain, to what it has become today – a pleasant neighborhood center with an eclectic mix of small businesses. In a manner very similar to Mountain Brook, it contains a number of examples of the Tudor Revival architectural style in the surrounding residences and in the village.
