"Smart" appliances slightly closer to reality.

The idea of cool appliances that tell you when you're out of milk or that it has expired, or save you energy by working with the power company's smart meters to use the cheapest electricity is a really cool idea...

but it's been a slow-to-start idea.

Experts suggest that things should be picking up soon, with companies like LG, Samsung, BSH (Bosch and Thermador), Electrolux and Whirlpool planning for higher sales in the future on smart refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers and other appliances.
