Josephine Cochrane - the woman who made the first practical mechanical dishwasher
Born March 8, 1839, Mrs. Cochrane was a one-time wealthy socialite who couldn't stand the damage her servants were doing to her fine dishware. One day she is supposed to have exclaimed that if no one else would invent a dishwashing machine, then she would!
Well, she did, and it really caught on with friends and family, eventually leading to the formation of the company Kitchenaid.
That's what inventing is all about. See a need, figure out the elements of that need, and then meet it.
Personally, I hate washing dishes, so thank you thank you thank you Josephine Cochrane.
