Christmas memories 2009

All the decorations are down (of course), but I thought I would post this picture of all the postcards we received from family & friends (which includes customers and vendors, of course).

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I'm just glad I got to spend so much time with my extended family.

Service Care launches a free service for customers

Service Care, as a service to our customers, has launched a free newsletter that will remind subscribers when it's time to perform maintenance on their appliances and electronics.

This will be a very low quantity of emails per year, the majority of which will be seasonal notices that will remind you to do the little things that you can do yourself to save yourself money, increase the life of your appliances, and help to avoid unnecessary service calls.

Of course, we are happy to perform all of these services, but many people will want to do this themselves to save money (especially in light of the current economic troubles).

We're hoping that many people will subscribe, and we assure that their personal information is very safe (see our Privacy Policy).

I missed it! Happy Birthday Pelham

Apparently, the city of Pelham, Alabama turned 45 last Friday.

Pelham, you don't look a day over 41, I swear it.

Service Care says Happy Birthday!

Is your TV ready for digital?

There will undoubtedly be some people who lose television when the broadcasters all switch over to digital. But will you really be affected?

If you have cable or satellite, the cable or satellite companies are responsible for making sure you can connect. You are fine. There is no need to upgrade your television if you have cable or satellite, unless of course you'd like to dramatically improve your television picture. But if you're happy, you don't need to upgrade.

But if you are depending upon antenna, over-the-air signals (you know, rabbit ears, etc) to watch TV, you're in for a surprise if your television is older than a certain year.

If you will leave us a comment with your Brand (Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, etc) and your full model number, we at Service Care would be happy to check and see if your television is ready for the digital switchover (it's really just an issue of whether you have an analog tuner only or digital). Just leave a comment below, and we'll look it up and post it here.

Hope we can help out.

Congratulations to top Alabama schools

In U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Schools" issue, several 54 Alabama schools were highly ranked for "college readiness" in a study of schools in the U.S.

Loveless Magnet High School of Montgomery got a gold medal, which means they were in the top 100 schools in the college readiness index.

Mountain Brook High School, Vestavia Hills High School and Grissom High School received silver medal scores. This means they're in the group of schools that ranked in the top 504 positions below the gold medal schools.

There were 50 other Alabama schools that received bronze medal scores, a tier below silver that contains a group of 1,321 schools.

Service Care congratulates these top Alabama schools and hopes we see even more school excellence in the future.

How to link to Service Care's Blog(s)

Suppose you read something here you like, or find interesting, or hate, or what have you.

How do you link to it from your blog, website or forum.

There's one way to link to the whole blog, if you think it's all interesting:

You can cut and paste the link below and drop it into your html editor:

The link will look like this: TV and Appliance Repair Blog

Now, I doubt the whole blog is interesting to everybody, and frankly I'm just hoping that one or two things will help someone out there looking for answers about appliances or electronics.

So, if you want to link to a specific blog entry, put your mouse over "LINK to this" in that entry (at the bottom left). Right-click over the "LINK to this", and in the menu that pops up you'll be able to save the link, bookmark it, and more importantly, copy the link.

Once you copy it, you can past it anywhere that allows you to paste this sort of thing, like a link from your blog, your website, etc.

Hopefully this helps, and I'll be sure to update this if I change this process. If someone has ideas for better ways to do this, I'd love to hear about it in comments. Thanks!
