The plans for Liberty Park's development are said to include a considerable
expansion of the existing residential and commercial areas. The community itself
is primarily made up of large lot residential areas which are developed along
Liberty Parkway. The first development within Liberty Park is the Urban Center
office development which lies nearest to the gateway area.
An elementary school and a sports complex are situated on Liberty Parkway, at
the eastern end. Open space and a strong pedestrian connectivity that are in
abundance along Liberty Parkway balance and support the residential
neighborhoods. A planned, progressive development, Liberty Park includes a
sizable amount of open land and the appropriate stormwater measures of control
to manage the run-off and reduce, as much as is possible, the effects of
development on the nearby sections of the Cahaba River. The plan for Liberty
Park also includes using the space adjacent to the Liberty Park Elementary
School for the coming construction of Vestavia Hills' second middle school.
